About Tool Finder

Tool Finder is a media company focused on helping people find the best software, save on it, and stay ahead with the right tools.

The story

Meet Francesco

Francesco has been obsessed with helping people find the right software for work. That obsession became the Tool Finder YouTube channel, now one of the leading software channels, helping over 450,000+ subscribers find the right tool for the job.

In 2022 he launched Bento, a focus timer built to help people cut through task overload, driven by a passion to solve more of the problems people run into with their software.

That same drive powers Tool Finder: honest, hands-on recommendations you can actually trust, because they come from someone who uses these tools every day.

Beyond Tool Finder

Advisor & investor

Francesco has spent years around great software, and he's made a few bets on the teams building it. He advises and invests in tools he believes in:

How we test

Why you can trust these reviews

Every tool goes through an intense week of hands-on use. Not demos, not marketing decks, not feature-page skimming. Just real workflows and the messy edge cases that surface when you actually try to get something done. It comes down to four checks:

  • Is it safe? Privacy practices, data handling, and who owns what you put in.
  • Is it suitable? What the tool is actually built for, versus what the marketing says.
  • Is it reliable? Uptime, sync behaviour, support quality, and how it holds up under real use.
  • Who's it for? The specific person or team who gets the most from it. Sometimes the answer is almost no one, and we say so.

We make money through affiliate partnerships, premium memberships, and clearly marked sponsorships. None of it changes the verdict. We've given tough reviews to tools we earn from when they deserved it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do you test and review tools?

We don't just skim features lists. Francesco personally uses each tool for real work over several weeks, putting it through actual workflows. We look at everything from the onboarding experience to how it handles edge cases. If a tool has collaboration features, we test those too. Our reviews come from genuine hands-on experience, not press releases.

How do you make money?

We're transparent about this. Tool Finder earns through affiliate partnerships with some of the tools we feature, premium memberships that give users access to exclusive deals, and sponsored content that's always clearly marked. Our reviews and recommendations aren't influenced by these relationships - we've given negative reviews to tools we have affiliate deals with when they deserved it.

Can I suggest a tool to review?

Absolutely. We get suggestions from our community all the time and it's genuinely helpful. Drop us a message through the contact page or reach out on Twitter. We can't promise we'll cover everything, but we read every suggestion and it often shapes what we look at next.

Do you offer consulting or partnerships?

Yes, we work with software companies on various things - from honest feedback during beta testing to helping with product positioning. Francesco also does consulting for teams trying to figure out their tool stack. If you're interested, get in touch through our contact page and we can chat about what might work.
